Meet Chab Dai’s New Advocacy Volunteers!

(L-R) Songg, Souphea, Rachana, and Vantha

A few weeks ago we had two students, Souphea and Rachana, join Vantha and Songg in our Advocacy Team. The students are in their 3rd year of studying International Studies at RUPP University. They will be volunteering with us for the next two months. We asked them what made them apply to work for Chab Dai.

"I applied here because I could see that this organisation is working on human rights/human trafficking, and I was interested. I want to know how the organisation works. I want to explore new things. And I want to learn more about myself as well.”
- Rachana

"I applied at Chab Dai because I’ve been interested in working for an NGO since I was young. When I was in grade 6, an NGO called Bonnalay Chilat came to my village. They had many books for primary school students to read. That made me interested in working for an NGO. I am interested in searching information about migration and human trafficking inside Cambodia. I love the environment here. I like all the staff, they are so friendly!”
- Souphea

Last week the students helped organise a training event for local police in Kratie province, on trafficking victim identification and ethical interviews. The Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection delivered the training, and our Advocacy Team conducted the event. We are excited for the opportunities this event and future advocacy work allows our student volunteers.

"We believe no one can end modern slavery without knowledge and understanding of its characteristics, and no one can get it done alone. This opportunity places the students in a professional position where they not only learn about modern slavery, but also improve personally and professionally in a dynamic working environment."
- Vantha, Advocacy Project Manager
