As a learning community, Chab Dai Coalition aims to see Christian organizations lead the way forward in raising the standard of care for survivors and those at risk of being exploited.

Chab Dai Learning Center

In 2007, Chab Dai opened the doors of a new office and community learning center. The purpose of this center is to provide an environment for learning and networking. Facilities available for members and other partner organizations include: a training room for up to 40; a conference room for up to 30; a counseling and interview room; and a resource library in English, Khmer and Vietnamese.

Chab Dai Member Meetings

Twice a year all Chab Dai member organizations come together to network, share and learn from one another. In addition, members are given the opportunity to discuss emerging issues in Cambodia and gap areas in programming. These meetings usually occur in May and November of each year.

Focus Forums

In order to facilitate and increase collaboration between members involved in similar work and projects, Chab Dai coordinates the following focus forums:

  1. Shelter Forum - For members who run shelter programs for trafficked, sexually abused, or exploited women and children. The purpose is to create opportunities for discussion and share ideas specific to operating residential shelters.

  2. Foster Forum - For those interested in looking at alternative care options for victims of abuse and/or trafficking, such as placing children with foster families.

  3. Business Forum - Focused on bringing member organizations together who are interested in income generation and business opportunities for their clients.

  4. Vietnamese Forum - Following the release of Chab Dai research on the ethnic Vietnamese communities in Phnom Penh, this forum enables members to focus on issues within the ethnic Vietnamese community.

  5. Family Forum - Participants in this forum are interested in building and restoring families in Cambodia by breaking the bonds of secrecy surrounding sexual assault and violence and developing tools that strengthen marriage.

  6. Prevention Forum - Focused on how organizations can best impact communities and churches in Cambodia to be motivated in educating others and preventing trafficking and various forms of abuse.

  7. Caregivers Forum - For caregivers working in shelter programs. Gives the opportunity for caregivers to come together to talk and learn from each other.

  8. Advocacy Forum - Plays a leadership role in mobilizing public support to end sexual abuse and trafficking within Cambodia. Participants contribute toward an annual advocacy campaign.

Training & Capacity Building

Due to the fairly young education system in Cambodia, one challenge that faces many member organizations is finding staff that are qualified to minister to survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking.

In addition to regular forums and member meetings, Chab Dai regularly facilitates various training and capacity building opportunities for member organizations and their staff. Recent training opportunities have included training on: Foster Care, Working with Drug Dependents, Sand Therapy, Play Therapy, Proposal Writing and Project Cycle Management.
